I wish to make the following comments re the proposed development in Areas 6,10
and 11 in the southeast of the town as follows. 1) The existing access from
Priory Road, the Primary Care Centre and associated Care Home and Retirement
housing is very difficult on to the A429. The addition of two additional roads
on to this busy road within 2-300 yards of the roundabout would create a serious
traffic hazard at peak times. 2) Section A - Sections 5 & 6 state housing
development should 'enhance views to and from the countryside' The development
around the Care Home will reduce the open views of the countryside to the
detriment of the calm environment the current open aspect from the Care Home.
3) Draft Plan Section 3. The proposed site for the Waitrose Supermarket would
provide additional parking available to the town centre, is close as possible to
provide linked shopping with the town centre and would provide a store with a
minimum of non food produce, minimising competition with high street shops.
