Section 1. Neighbourhood Plan is supposedly for
3 parishes yet there is no mention of Brokenborough and indeed in relation to
housing development it mentions 'severely limiting any housing development in
the rural areas of St. Pauls without', but not Brokenborough. Is this
because the prime development site is on our doorstep! and would ultimately
"overwhelm it's character and amenities". This is a plan for Malmesbury- though
I feel Brokenborough is being included as part of the whole area - we are a
separate Parish and Village and wish to remain so. I would like to see mention
of protecting our boundaries and identity separate to Malmesbury. I find it
bemusing that the Plan mentions 'existing businesses in the area growing' and
that there are few premises available for small/ start up businesses' in the
town. Yet, one need only walk along the High Street and it's environs and
notice a number of empty business premises that seem prime locations should
anyone wish to start a business. However, since the recent expansion of
Malmesbury the town is dying on it's feet. It is no longer the vibrant shopping
centre of 5-7 years ago - as the majority of new residents obviously walk and
shop elsewhere near the place of employment. Increased development in the town
would kill it completely. Small is beautiful- that it what was so attractive
years ago - a small market town - which was sustainable and economically
viable- that developers have
