We support the project as shown. The Waitrose store
and site are our preferred option. We note that much has been made about
surface water run off, but this can be overcome by using the holding tanks
suggested and if possible directing the outlet down stream of the Silk Mills
Bridge - suggest all such water should first go through a triple chamber oil/
petrol interceptor to stop pollution of the river. Most of the St. John Street
flooding was caused by sealing off the millstream which used to go under the
road and drive the machines and the bridges was not designed for the flood
conditions which resulted. Traffic problems : West of Town. The original idea
was for heavy traffic from Sherston etc to go via Corn Gastons to Tetbury Road
and avoid Bristol Street and the Triangle. Parking spaces on what is now grass
and double yellow lines would get over this
