I have been horrified by the proposal to build homes adjacent to the primary school in the
flood plain behind the properties in Park Road.
I cannot see how this can be deemed to be sensible town planning when the are other sites
where homes could be built with better access and less harm done to the
beautiful natural surroundings in Malmesbury.
Nobody has outlined the reasons why the Gleeson site is no longer deemed appropriate, or,
indeed why further development cannot be considered in areas less prone to
flooding around the Filands area. It seems to me that this site has been chosen
mainly due to the fact that due to fewer homes being affected, there is likely
to be less objection, regardless of the fact that development here will
undoubtedly increase flood risk.
There seemed to be almost a statement of intent, regardless of the impact on the environment
when I earlier questioned how this development could possibly be considered

town centre and protecting existing residents from increased flood risk, seem to
