I attended the Public Consultation of the MNSG in
Brokenborough. The display was excellently presented, with several organisers on
hand to explain or help with queries. A few points:- i) in the knowledge that
we have to accept over 200 new houses in Malmesbury, I thought Site 3a was the
best option – within walking distance of schools, other amenities and even the
town ii) I like the idea of the housing being at different levels in keeping
with the existing town and hopefully of an attractive and varied design; with
gardens. I think there should be some 3 & 4 bedroom properties that
families can stay in the area once they grow, and also add to the diversity of
appearance. Another advantage of Site 3a is that expansion is limited as
opposed to the Gleeson plan where they can build and build. iii) I am in favour
of the Technology Park and its position. iv) I prefer Waitrose to to
Sainsbury's which is a one-stop shop and far more likely to damage the High
Street. Waitrose might prove an asset, attracting people to Malmesbury, and
with its promise of 3 to 4 hours free parking might partly solve Malmesbury's
big car parking problem and thus provide footfall in the High Street. Those
that have produced this plan have put in a tremendous amount of work, and spent
many hours trying to do their best for Malmesbury, St Paul Withoit and
Brokenborough; I applaud them
