Upper Eden Says ‘Yes’
Last night (7 March), in Brough Memorial Hall in Cumbria, the returning officer for Eden District Council announced the result of the first ever referendum to be held on a neighbourhood plan. Voters in Upper Eden had said yes to their neighbourhood plan with 90 per cent voting in favour. Turnout was 33.7 per cent. Read the DCLG news letter below for more details.

The steering group made every effort to defend the right of our community to have a real say about future development. We strongly argued that the Gleeson proposal should be rejected and that our neighbourhood planning process should decide where new housing should go. We will find out the result some time in April of this year
