To reiterate many others, thank you to the MNSG for the huge volume of work put
in by the MNSG group. The plan appears carefully and thoroughly considered in
all aspects. I understand that we have to take a number of houses as per
Wiltshire Council strategy, the assessment of the residential need and position
at Backbridge seems the best solution. Also I believe that all development is to
the north of the centre of the town and I am pleased to see development
proposals to the south, putting the "town centre" in the "centre of town" as
well as being easier for the M4 without further congesting the town centre.
With regards to the supermarket I am still unconvinced that a large supermarket
is in the interest of the town or town centre. The garden centre site is too
far from town and offers nothing and I also think that very few shoppers at
Waitrose will, in reality, walk from one side of Avon Mills and all the way up
the high street and back again. The extension of Co-op and relocation of the
football club may be a more realistic option.
