Page 3. Section 1. Proposed housing behind Tetbury
Hill. My concerns are threefold - 1. Where would the access to these houses be?
2. The increased traffic that will be produced along an already busy and major
route into town, that passes the promary school. 3. Also Lord Morton's land is
sitting very close by and ha has already made application for 600 houses twice
in the past, do you expect him to jump on the bandwagon and are you prepared?
Proposed housing at Burton Hill. The sites 6,10 and 11 seem to surround
Athelstan House and Townsend Court both of which house older people, who I
think deserve not to be "hemmed in". Again these proposed sites will lead onto
an already busy route, which includes many large lorries that start at around 5
o' clock in the morning and at this moment trying to cross the road on foot or
turn onto it by car is difficult and sometimes dangerous. To add up to 3 more
exits onto the road only makes an already difficult situation worse. I do not
agree that householders in any site will walk into town (although I would like
them to) so the increased traffic flow through the town and the extra stress
created on parking will cause many problems. Section2. Page 4. With regard to
smaller housing for first time buyers, can the builders be encouraged to plan
and construct homes that cannot be extended in order to keep them at the
starter level and therefore always within reach of the lower end of the housing
market, which after all keeps the whole market flowing. The draft plan does not
offer any opinion on the present parking problems within Malmesbury. There are
areas that are almost at saturation point now, whilst I know new housing will
have parking as part of any proposed plan, surely the current residents have to
be taken into consideration and some action to improve the parking situation as
it stands now. I commend all the members of MNSG and thank them for their hard
work but would caution them to listen and value the views of the towns people
and for the members not to be too blinkered as we all know the world is not
