Just 5/6 years ago the beautiful building that was Malmesbury hospital was
demolished and replaced by the Primary care centre and Athelstan House care
home. This huge build was sold to the town by council and planners saying that we
needed a bigger doctors surgery where it could expand with the growth of the
town,Athelstan House was to be a place where our elderly and terminally ill
could live out their final days in beautiful and peaceful surroundings. This was
an idea i bought into and although it was practically in my back garden did not
officially object. In just five short years the MNSG has proposed wrapping these
units entirely with100 new houses forgetting completely about the well being of
the residents being cared for there. The light pollution and traffic noise that
these new houses would undoubtedly produce would cause great distress and
discomfort to the very people our council had designed this home to help!!!
short memories, blatant disregard,or hidden agenda? At a recent council meeting
it was implied this housing build would aid the Waitrose supermarket plans that
have been put forward for a second time recently, maybe this is why a poorly
thought out plan has been rushed through so quickly, after all we all know
Waitrose is the preferred build by the MNSG!!!!!
